If you sell products online, an e-commerce profit calculator helps you see what you actually keep from each sale after costs. Sellers on marketplaces, dropshippers, and small store owners can use it to check whether a price or product is worth selling.

How to use this calculator

  1. Open the calculator and find the input fields on the form.
  2. Enter the selling price of the product you want to check.
  3. Enter your costs, such as the product cost and any fees or shipping costs the form asks for.
  4. Fill in any remaining fields, and leave a field empty only if it does not apply to your sale.
  5. Read the result shown after you enter the figures, and compare it with the amount you expect to keep.

What the result means

The result is the profit estimate based on the numbers you entered. Check the units shown next to the result, such as a currency symbol or a percentage, before you compare it with other products or prices.

A positive result means the sale leaves money after the costs you included. A negative result means those costs are higher than the price you entered.

Tips for a correct result

  • Use the same currency for every number.
  • Enter the price you actually charge, not the list price, if you use discounts.
  • Include every cost you pay on each sale, such as platform fees, payment fees, packaging, and shipping.
  • Check the result again when your product cost or fees change.

Accuracy and limits

The calculator only counts the costs you enter. If you leave out a fee, tax, return, or ad cost, the result will look higher than your real profit.

It gives an estimate for one sale or one set of inputs. It does not forecast future sales or track your bank account.

Questions people ask about profit calculations

Does the calculator include my platform fees?

Only if you enter them. The calculator uses the numbers in its fields, so add any marketplace or payment fees you pay on each sale.

Can I use it for more than one product?

Yes. Run the calculator once for each product, using the price and costs that apply to that item.

Why does my result differ from my store report?

Store reports can include refunds, taxes, discounts, or fees that you did not enter here. Compare the inputs first to find the difference.

Should I use the result for tax filing?

The calculator gives a profit estimate, not a tax figure. For tax filing, use your accounting records or ask a tax professional.
